With 43 entries registered for the opening night of the Optima Batteries Golden Isles Nationals, Shirley narrowly missed transferring into the 40-lap main event via preliminaries. Utilizing a Series provisional to start 24th in the $7,000-to-win feature, Brian suffered mechanical issues early that would force him to retire early from the race.
The following night in field of 39 cars, Shirley fell one spot short of a transfer position in his heat race, finishing fifth. Coming in third in his B-Main, Brian locked into the 21st starting position for the $7,000-to-win A-Main. Advancing six positions in the 40-lapper, Shirley recorded a 15th place finish.
Thursday's Optima Batteries Golden Isles Nationals finale saw 36 drivers registered. Via a second-place finish in his heat race behind Tim McCreadie, Shirley earned the sixth spot on the feature grid. While battling for position on lap 22 of the 40-lapper, Brian spun and was forced to restart from the tail of the field. Shirley battled back to salvage an 11th place finish at the checkered flag.
