Shirley Wraps Up Lucas Oil Reopening Tour at East Bay
The final rounds of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Reopening Tour kicked off on Monday night at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, Fla. After starting the night timing in sixth in his qualifying group, Shirley went on to finish third in his heat race to lock into the 11th spot on the grid for the $7,000-to-win feature. Advancing five positions in the 40-lapper, Brian record a sixth-place finish.
On night two, Shirley fell one spot short of a transfer position in his heat race, sending him to a B-Main. He later won the B-Main to earn the 17th starting spot for the A-Main. Unfortunately, Brian suffered mechanical issues just past the halfway point in the 40-lap main event, ending his night early.
Returning for the final night of the Lucas Oil Reopening tour on Wednesday, Shirley failed to reach a transfer spot into the feature via preliminary events. Utilizing a series provisional to start 23rd, Shirley's night would end with mechanical issues just 5 laps into the 40-lap finale.
