Pair of Top-5's in MARS Labor Day Weekend

Brian Shirley set out to enter a trio of events with the MARS Racing Series over the weekend. Kicking off the weekend at Farmer City (Ill.) Raceway on Thursday, Brian suffered an unfortunate start to his weekend. An blown motor in hot laps resulted in Brian scratching from the remainder of the event.

Returning to Farmer City Raceway on Friday, Shirley raced to a second-place finish in his heat race after starting fourth. Starting the $5,000-to-win feature in sixth, Brian advanced two spots to place fourth behind Jason Feger, Bobby Pierce, and Shannon Bobb. Billy Moyer completed the Top-5 finishers.

The action shifted to Fairbury (Ill.) Speedway on Saturday as the winner's share increased to $10,000. Brian once again noched a second-place heat race finish, earning him the fifth starting spot on the feature grid. Shirley went on to cross the finish line in third behind Bobby Pierce and Frank Heckenast Jr. Tim Manville and Jason Feger rounded out the Top-5.
