Brian Shirley Enters Spring 50 at Florence

After a month-long break in the action, Brian Shirley resumed competition on Saturday night with a trip to Florence Speedway in Union, Ky. (Steve Alcorn photo) Brian timed in fifth overall in qualifying for the 45th Annual Spring 50 and went on to finish second behind Jimmy Owens in his heat race.

Starting the $10,000-to-win main event in fifth, Shirley was an early retiree from the 50-lap affair. He was credited with an eleventh-place outing.
