Shirley scores podium finish in Spring Showcase at FALS

On Friday afternoon Brian Shirley returned with the Mars Racing Series at Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Ill.) for the Farmer City 74. With 28 cars entered, Shirley timed in third fastest in his group before placing second in his heat behind Brandon Sheppard. The following night at Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.) for the Spring Showcase, Brian secured his spot into the $15,000-to-win A-Main with a 10-lap heat race victory. After taking part in a heated battle with Tanner English for the lead, Shirley snuck by on lap 31 to assume command of the top spot. He was unable to contain English’s charge in the final 10 laps, marking him third on the rundown when the checkered flag flew. He trailed English and Dennis Erb Jr. to the checkers with Brandon Sheppard and Ryan Unzicker completing the Top-5 finishers.
