Shirley charges to runner-up finish at Davenport Speedway

On Thursday evening, Brian Shirley invaded Davenport Speedway (Davenport, Iowa) to pilot the Thomason Express No. 3s Late Model for the tripleheader weekend with the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series. Drawing 38 cars for the Quad Cities 150 presented by Hoker Trucking, Shirley edged his way into the $10,000-to-win preliminary feature with a third-place finish in his heat. The following night, Brian came in sixth fastest in his group before placing third in his heat. With $10,000 on the line in the feature, Shirley faded back to a 16th-place finish.

To wrap up the tripleheader weekend on Saturday, Shirley grabbed the fourth-and-final transfer spot in his heat, which positioned him 15th on the starting grid for the $30,000-to-win Quad Cities 150. Wheeling his way into a podium spot, Brian advanced forward 13 positions in the 70-lapper to register a runner-up finish. He followed Devin Moran across the line with Boom Briggs, Brandon Sheppard, and Bobby Pierce rounding out the Top-5.
