Brian Shirley attends World of Outlaws World Finals at Charlotte

Bob Cullen Racing and Brian Shirley trekked to The Dirt Track at Charlotte (Concord, N.C.) on Wednesday afternoon as the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series World Finals kicked off with three nights of racing.

With the 70-car field split into two groups, Shirley rebounded with a 10th-to-6th showing in his heat after getting behind the eight-ball in time trials. Transferring into the B-Main for another shot at the opening night feature, Brian fell short of a transfer spot with a fifth-place outing.

For another $15,000-to-win program on Thursday, Brian followed up a fifth-place showing in his heat with a fourth-place finish in his B-Main, missing a transfer spot by two positions.

With preliminary results placing him on the third row of his heat race on Saturday afternoon, Shirley recorded a fifth-place finish, relegating him into one of three consolation races for one final shot at the $25,000-to-win World Finals finale. Needing to place second or better, Brian’s night was over after finishing fifth in his 15-lap B-Main.
