Radiator issue halts Shirley's DTWC run at Eldora Speedway
Taking part in the rain-plagued General Tire Dirt Track World Championship presented by Automotive Racing Products, Brian Shirley entered the Bob Cullen Racing No. 8 Late Model into battle at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) over the weekend for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series season finale.
With the originally scheduled two-day show condensed by persistent rain throughout the weekend, Shirley backed up the second-fastest qualifying effort in his group on Saturday with a second-place finish in his heat race on Sunday afternoon.
Starting Sunday night’s $100,000-to-win Dirt Track World Championship finale in ninth, Brian led laps 33-40 but suffered damage to his radiator while leading that forced him to surrender the top spot.
