Brian Shirley seventh in Minnesota Mega; ninth in Gopher 50 finale
Starting off his week with the XR Super Series, Brian Shirley was one of 27 Super Late Models signed in at Gondik Law Speedway (Superior, Wis.) for the Superior Showcase.
Finishing fifth in his heat race, Shirley started 15th in the $15,000-to-win feature and finished just outside of the Top-10 in 11th.
With a $50,000 up for grabs at Ogilvie (Minn.) Raceway on Wednesday, Brian made up one spot in his heat race to finish runner-up and start seventh in the main event. In the 50 lapper, Shirley recoded a Top-10 outing in seventh.
Joining the World of Outlaw Case Late Model Series on Thursday for the Gopher 50 weekend at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minn.), the Bob Cullen Racing team joined a 31-car field before Mother Nature forced a reschedule to Friday afternoon.
Brian finished outside out the Top-10 in both preliminary features on Friday, but picked up speed in Saturday's $50,000-to-win finale to score a ninth-place finish in the Gopher 50.
